Q&A:
Is there One APP where you can call 5 kinds of new taxis now?
Nope. You have to book from each provider's app and cancel also on each app, not as convenient as Uber at the moment, hope this changes soon.
Will passengers be able to book traditional taxis using the new apps?
It is unlikely that the apps for the new taxi fleets—Joie, Syncab, Amigo, Big Boss, and Big Bee—will allow you to order old taxis (i.e., traditional, non-fleet-specific taxis) through their platforms. These apps are typically designed to serve the fleets they represent and may only be compatible with the vehicles within their own system.
3. Can the new taxis cross the border?
Currently, taxis in Hong Kong are not permitted to cross the border into mainland China, and vice versa. The Hong Kong and mainland China transportation systems are separate, and there are specific regulations for cross-border travel.
