1. Is there any difference between adult & non-adult applicants for application materials or validity?

• Materials:

(1) Applicants under 11 without a Hong Kong permanent identity card may need to provide

the Notice of Application for Access to Information to state that he/she is a Permanent Resident (PR). 

(2) For applicants under 18, the guardians shall also present their original identity certificates, such as

passports and proof of guardianship; If the legally valid birth certificate or custody document is not in

Chinese or English, the Chinese or English translation shall be submitted.

• Validity: The Permit is valid for 5 years for BOTH adults and kids.

2. Is there any requirement on the applicant's nationality?

Applicants of any nationality and industry are welcome as long as you are a non-Chinese Hong Kong

or Macau PR!

3. What are the benefits with the Permit?

• With the Permit, you can go to the mainland for unlimited times for 5 YEARS with each stay up to 90 days. You can go for investment, family visits, tourism, business, seminars, etc, but you shall not work, study or engage in news coverage activities unless you apply to OCMFA (Hong Kong/Macau) or the exit-entry administration bureau of the public security department of each city in the mainland.

  
  

• With the Permit, after completing fingerprint collection procedures at the ports of entry, you can go through immigration clearance through E-CHANNELS, which means no more filling in the Arrival Card every time when entering the mainland. The clearance through E-channels only takes averagely ONE MINUTE, saving you at least ONE HOUR's waiting time!

  
  

• It takes shorter time and less fee to apply for the Permit than for a visa:

  To travel to the mainland, non-Chinese PR used to apply for a tourist visa at the cost of at least 550HKD for a single entry and 1,170HKD for multi-entry pass, which normally takes 1 month or even more. Besides, additional application materials like travel agenda and proof from travel agencies (for group travel) are needed.

  
  

  In comparison, applying for the Permit only costs 260HKD, and the processing takes around ONLY 20 business days.

4. Can I buy a house or apply for a bank or SIM card in the mainland with the Permit?

You can engage in those activities as a foreigner.

5. Are there any agencies in Hong Kong? Is there a shortcut?

There are several agencies in Hong Kong that can help with the application, but through China Travel Service is the only application method, so we highly recommend you to prepare all documents and apply directly in person.

（一）成人和未成年在申请通行证时，材料和有效期方面有什么区别？

材料：

(1) 未满11周岁且未办理香港居民身份证的申请人需提交香港入境事务处签发的《〈索取资料申请〉通知书》，以证明其是香港永久性居民。

(2) 未满18周岁的申请人必须由法定监护人陪同且提供其身份证明文件和关系证明文件；如果合法的出生证明或监护文件不是中文或英文，需提交中文或英文翻译版本。

有效期：成人和未成年的通行证有效期均为5年

（二）申请通行证是否有国籍限制？

只要你是非中国籍港澳永久性居民，申请通行证不受任何国籍或行业限制。

（三）通行证有什么好处？

• 你可以在5年内无限次数去内地，且每次可停留多达90天。你可以去投资、探亲、旅游、商务、研讨、交流等，但不可以工作、学习或从事新闻报道活动，除非向外交部驻香港、澳门特派员公署或内地公安机关出入境管理机构申请办理签证或者停留居留证件。

• 持证人在口岸履行指纹采集等手续后，可以经快捷通道通关，无需填写外国人入境卡。经快捷通道通关只需一分钟，节省你至少一小时的等待时间！

（四）我可以用通行证在内地买房、办银行卡和电话卡吗？

你可以用外国人的身份从事以上活动。

（五）香港有代办中介吗？是否有快捷方式？

香港有机构可以协助申请，但是唯一的申请途径还是通过中旅社。所以建议自行准备材料申请。
