Chinese hospitality is best expressed at a wine banquet. The exchange of feelings between people is often sublimated during a toast. When the Chinese toast, they often want each other to drink more wine to show that they have done their best to show their host's friendship. And, the more the guest drinks, the happier the host is, thinking that the guest looks up to them. If the guest does not drink, the host will feel they looked bad or humiliated.
